Tattoo Removal

tattoo removal

Tattoo removal has become a sought after treatment in Australian clinics. Q-switched laser tattoo removal is one of the safest ways to remove unwanted tattoos.

Compared with traditional lasers, Q switched laser treatments are:

  • Safe for most skin types
  • Higher safety profile
  • Less painful
  • No downtime
Important Note

Medical Grade Dermatological Lasers are the safest and most effective way to remove skin tattoos. Non-laser methods such as injecting acid in the skin are hazardous and can result in severe skin infection and scarring. It is imperative for anyone wanting to have a tattoo removed to ask about the professional qualification of their service provider and the brand of the laser being used.

We have worked hard to be able to offer an affordable price so patients do feel pressured to visit under qualified practices or destination surgery.

The process begins when a laser emits a pulse of light that is absorbed into certain colours of ink. The laser light penetrates the skin at high speed (billionths of a second) that produces a shock wave effect that disperses the ink particles into smaller pieces. The body then identifies these particles as something that shouldn’t be there and attacks and removes these via the body’s immune system.

A numbing agent is applied to the area. Once the patient is completely numb, the laser process begins. The treatment is relatively quick usually only lasting 5-15 minutes depending on treatment size.

Asked Questions

We regularly get asked about our procedures, so we have put together a couple of questions we get asked on a regular basis.

If there is something else you would like to know, please get in touch!

Every tattoo responds differently to laser treatment due to several variables including :

  • Natural colour of the skin
  • Age of the tattoo
  • Colour & depth of the ink in the skin
  • Size and concentration of the ink particles
  • Individual’s immune system

Predicting how many treatments any tattoo will require is an educated guess. During your consultation, we will make an estimate of the number of tattoo removal sessions likely to be needed to remove your tattoo. On average most black ink tattoos require between ten to fifteen sessions spread over several months.

Tattoo fading is a slow process and is dependent on your body’s immune system to work. We recommend that you wait for at least six to eight weeks to give your immune system enough time before coming in for your next treatment.

Limit the amount of physical activity that you do and sun exposure for the first 24 hours. If the body gets too overheated it can cause the tattoo to blister. Showers can be taken but only if they are lukewarm and you use mild soap.

Yes, depending on the colour of the tattoo, we recommend having a few treatment sessions to lighten the tattoo ink before having a cover-up tattoo put on top.

Unfortunately patients must wait for at least six weeks after a tattoo has been put on before starting the removal process.

Superficial blisters and scabs are normal after any laser tattoo removal treatment. These usually heal without any issue within few days.
