Cosmetic Treatment

Chin Filler

All about chin filler

Some individuals may have an under-formed or weak chin profile. Chin augmentation via surgery is an option. However, a non-surgical procedure has far less downtime and does not require hospital visits. Whether you want to slim your face by elongating the chin or increasing mass and width to project and create a more defined edge for framing the face, chin filler before and after helps shape a sagging lower face and an undefined jawline into a more balanced and proportionate facial profile. Chin filler is often used with either jaw filler or jaw botox — please see our other treatment tabs.

Whenever you have any cosmetic treatment, you want to choose a clinic that is experienced and regulated by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) to ensure you are getting a safe, tried and tested procedure.

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers work by imitating a naturally occurring substance within your body — a sugar molecule that exists naturally in almost all living organisms. Its normal function is to bind water, so it acts as a lubricant and shock absorber in movable body parts, such as joints. It is also important for the transport of nutrients and in regulating water balance in the skin. By boosting your skin with this naturally occurring substance, dermal fillers instantly revitalise and add volume to the area. Chin fillers diminish the appearance of lines and wrinkles and give a natural, softer look. Our gel is very tissue-friendly and closely resembles that of the body.

Benefits of Chin Filler:
  • Enhance a weak or lacking chin
  • Achieve a more heart shaped face
  • Create a more projected chin to balance facial structure

What Is Involved In The Process Of Chin Fillers?

The process of chin fillers involves thoroughly cleaning the area first. We will first apply a topical anaesthetic for your comfort. The treating doctor or nurse will then do a series of injections into the area using our bespoke technique, which means we inject the chin fillers to help enhance your natural features. Our clinicians will explain the proper aftercare measures you must take following your procedure.

Your chin filler appointment will take about 45 minutes from start to finish. You can return to your regular activities after the injections are completed.

At One Cosmetic, we use only the most advanced range of Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers available in the Australian market. These products also contain lidocaine, which means that the treated areas are numbed simultaneously during treatment, improving the overall treatment experience for the patient. Your injector will then gently massage the fillers to soften the product.

  • This occurs when filler is injected into or around an artery, causing blood flow to be reduced or stop. Skin may look pale (blanched) and start to turn blue over a period of 24 hours. This is usually painful and, if untreated, the skin may start to ‘die’ and turn black.
  • Filler migration
  • Skin discolouration
  • Bacterial infection
  • Viral infection
  • Ulceration of the skin where you were injected
  • Lumps (nodules) forming under the skin
  • Allergic reaction
  • Permanent disfigurement and scarring
  • Haematoma (a collection of blood under the skin or in the deeper tissues)
  • Weakness of the muscles of the face, head and neck, which can have undesirable effects on swallowing, vocal cord function and eye movements (double vision)
  • inflammatory reactions – especially associated with unregistered dermal filler products which may require surgery to remove.
Frequently Asked Questions

We regularly get asked about our procedures, so we have put together a couple of questions we get asked on a regular basis. If there is something else you would like to know, please get in touch!

No, our team is selective in who they treat. Below is a guide of patients who may not be suitable for treatment

  • Anyone under the age of 18
  • Active skin disease, inflammation or skin related problems.
  • Pregnant, breast-feeding or women trying to conceive a child
  • Individuals with medical conditions that lower the body’s immune response or individuals undergoing therapy that is immunosuppressive may be more prone to infection by a skin injection procedure
  • Patients on Accutane

Our team will guide you through the treatment process, however normally 1-2mls  is the acceptable amount of product per treatment.

Due to Australian regulations, we cannot name medicine online. We only stock premium TGA approved brands of dermal fillers.

Cheek fillers last anywhere from 12-18 months. The body will break down the product over a number of months. Every patient’s body will do this at a different rate, hence the varied longevity.

Chin implants run the risk of infections, scar tissue and are difficult to reverse if you do not like the final result. Chin Dermal Fillers tend to be favoured over chin implants because of the reversibility and the very low risk of infection.

Chin fillers provide subtle yet impactful improvements in facial contouring and symmetry to enhance a weak or lacking chin, achieve a more heart-shaped face or help balance the facial structure.

How long chin filler lasts can vary depending on several factors, including your metabolism and lifestyle. Generally speaking, chin fillers last anywhere from 12 to 18 months, as your body will break down the filler over several months. Your clinician may recommend a follow-up treatment after six months to help maintain optimal results. They are reversible and can be dissolved by our expert cosmetic injectors, who are happy to talk you through the process.

Since chin fillers are a non-surgical treatment, they require little to no downtime. You may experience redness and swelling around the injection site 48 hours post-treatment. Your clinician will advise you on aftercare instructions to treat redness or swelling, such as applying a cool compress and avoiding strenuous exercise and alcohol 24 hours post-treatment.
