Cosmetic Treatment
The aging process can lead to a reduction in facial volume, including in the cheek area. Dermal fillers can be used to add volume to the cheeks.
This procedure involves injecting a gel-like substance to augment the shape and structure of the cheek area. Adding volume to this area can also soften the appearance of the nasolabial folds (the lines from the nose to the mouth). The dermal filler product itself may also have a hydrating effect on the overlying skin.
All cosmetic procedures carry risks and have a recovery period. Common side effects for this procedure include temporary swelling, redness, and bruising at the injection sites. Outcomes vary between individuals. A thorough consultation with a qualified medical practitioner is necessary to determine if this treatment is appropriate for you, and to discuss your treatment goals, the procedure itself, and the full range of potential risks and complications.
When considering a cosmetic procedure, it is important to choose a qualified and registered practitioner. The dermal filler products themselves are regulated as therapeutic goods by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).
A dermal filler procedure begins with the treatment area being thoroughly cleaned. A topical anaesthetic is often applied to the skin to minimise discomfort during the injections.
A qualified doctor or nurse will then administer the dermal filler product through a series of injections into the specified area. The practitioner may then gently massage the area to ensure the product is distributed correctly. Following the injections, you will be provided with detailed aftercare instructions. A standard appointment typically takes around 45 minutes.
We use a range of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal fillers that are regulated by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) for use in Australia. Many of these products contain lidocaine, a local anaesthetic, which also helps to reduce discomfort during the procedure.
It is important to understand that this is a medical procedure that involves a recovery period. You should not expect to return to all regular activities immediately. Common side effects include temporary swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness at the injection sites. A comprehensive consultation with your practitioner is essential to discuss your goals, the procedure itself, and the potential risks and complications involved.
