Nasolabial Fold

Nasolabial folds are naturally occurring lines that start from the base of the nostrils to the corner of the mouth. The folds are made up of bundles of fibrous tissue and muscle, as people age and the skin loses laxity and volume the underlying structure becomes more obvious. 

Additional factors such as smoking, UV damage, rapid fluctuations in weight and the effects of laughing/teeth clenching over decades can make the nasolabial line more prominent. Dermal filler placement is a less drastic option than surgery. Dermal filler has minimal side effects and immediate results.

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers work by imitating a naturally occurring substance within your body – a sugar molecule that exists naturally in almost all living organisms. Its normal function is to bind water so it acts as a lubricant and shock absorber in movable parts of the body, such as joints. It is also important for the transport of nutrients and in regulating water balance in skin. By boosting your skin with this naturally occurring substance, dermal fillers revitalise and add volume to the area instantly. This diminishes the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and gives a natural softer look. The gel we use is very tissue-friendly and closely resembles that which exists in the body.

No, our team is selective in who they treat. Below is a guide of patients who may not be suitable for treatment

  • Anyone under the age of 18
  • Active skin disease, inflammation or skin related problems. 
  • Pregnant, breast-feeding or women trying to conceive a child
  • Individuals with medical conditions that lower the body’s immune response or individuals undergoing therapy that is immunosuppressive may be more prone to infection by a skin injection procedure
  • Patients on Accutane 

Due to Australian regulations, we cannot name medicine online. We only stock premium TGA approved brands of dermal fillers.

Cheek fillers last anywhere from 12-18 months. The body will break down the product over a number of months. Every patient’s body will do this at a different rate, hence the varied longevity.

At One Cosmetic we like to start small with all fillers and build. Aesthetic treatments are not a race and can be performed in multiple sessions. Your practitioner will guide you through the amount needed to achieve your goals.

Dr Negin Sedaghat FRACS leads the breast care program after breast implant surgery at One Cosmetic, an essential component of maintaining breast health.

Dr Sedaghat is an Australian-trained Specialist General Surgeon with subspecialisation in Breast Surgery and Breast Surgical Oncology. She is BreastSurgANZ certified in breast surgery and awarded professional certification with distinction in oncoplastic breast surgery from the University of Sydney.

Dr Sedaghat combines her highly qualified and experienced surgical expertise with a compassionate and holistic approach to patient care. In addition to breast implant care, Dr Sedaghat accepts consultations for women seeking comprehensive breast assessment and treatment for a wide range of breast concerns at the welcoming and luxurious environment of One Cosmetic in Double Bay – a valid GP referral at the time of consultation will be needed.

With a clinical background in perioperative nursing, Maree brings medical precision and a strong eye for detail to her work in aesthetic medicine. She is an experienced cosmetic nurse and over the years has trained under leading injectors in the space. Katie is our beautiful clinic coordinator at OC and one of the first faces you’ll see when you walk through the doors or call our team. She has several years of experience in a customer service role and brings a wealth of knowledge in managing patients and understands what it takes to support our patients through their cosmetic journeys.

Katie is passionate about skin and skin health, which is so important when patents are seeking advice on where to start. Katie has also recently been through the surgery process herself, so she can give first hand experience when it comes to any surgery related questions.

Dr. Louis Wessels

Dr. Louis Wessels is a highly qualified specialist plastic, cosmetic, and reconstructive surgeon with a particular focus on breast and body surgery, including liposuction.

 

His practice encompasses the full spectrum of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures, with special expertise in breast surgery. These include primary and revision breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast lift, and tuberous breast reconstruction, as well as body contouring procedures such as abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and liposuction.

 

Dr. Wessels completed his medical degree (MBChB) in South Africa, followed by internship and general surgery training in one of the most demanding clinical environments. He subsequently completed both his Fellowship and Master of Medicine in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in South Africa, gaining extensive experience across complex reconstructive and cosmetic procedures.

 

He later completed a second Fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Sydney, Australia, and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2015. Dr. Wessels has published internationally recognised research on breast implant infection and outcomes following breast augmentation surgery.

 

He subsequently graduated from Macquarie University in the inaugural intake of the Master of Advanced Surgery (Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery), for which he was awarded a scholarship from Johnson & Johnson.

 

Committed to excellence and innovation, Dr. Wessels regularly attends international conferences and professional development seminars to remain at the forefront of evidence-based practice and advanced surgical techniques. He is the founder and lead surgeon at One Cosmetic.
