Cosmetic Treatment
Marionette lines are facial wrinkles that occur with natural aging. The lines run vertically between the mouth and chin, which can also create sagging in the lower half of your face. Marionette lines get their name from marionette string puppets, which are known for having split jaws so puppeteers can help them talk Marionette lines become more visible as a result of aging which combines the dual actions of thinning/loss of fat from the upper face and the increase of fat in the lower face which through gravity and loss of skin elasticity draws down the lower face developing the distinct folds. Collagen loss and elastin loss are key factors.
Dermal fillers are aesthetic gel-based treatment injected into the skin. They are specifically designed to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, contour the face and create volume. If your marionette lines are deep, we may recommend using filler in combination with some skin lifting and tightening treatments such as Morpheus8 or Threads.
Dermal fillers work by imitating a naturally occurring substance within your body – a sugar molecule that exists naturally in almost all living organisms. Its normal function is to bind water so it acts as a lubricant and shock absorber in movable parts of the body, such as joints. It is also important for the transport of nutrients and in regulating water balance in skin. By boosting your skin with this naturally occurring substance, dermal fillers revitalise and add volume to the area instantly. This diminishes the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and gives a natural softer look. The gel we use is very tissue-friendly and closely resembles that which exists in the body.
The treatment involves thoroughly cleaning the area first. A topical anesthetic will be first applied for your comfort. The treating doctor or nurse will then do a series of injections into the area using our bespoke technique which means we inject the fillers in a way to enhance your natural features. You will then be explained the aftercare.
Your filler appointment will take about 45 minutes from start to finish. As soon as the series of injections is completed, you can go back to your regular activities.Â
At One Cosmetic, we use only the most advanced range of Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers that are available in the Australian market. These products also contain lidocaine, which means that the treated areas are numbed simultaneously during treatment, improving the overall treatment experience for the patient. Your injector will then gently massage the fillers to soften the product.
We regularly get asked about our procedures, so we have put together a couple of questions we get asked on a regular basis. If there is something else you would like to know, please get in touch!
No, our team is selective in who they treat. Below is a guide of patients who may not be suitable for treatment
Due to Australian regulations, we cannot name medicine online. We only stock premium TGA approved brands of dermal fillers.
Cheek fillers last anywhere from 12-18 months. The body will break down the product over a number of months. Every patient’s body will do this at a different rate, hence the varied longevity.
At One Cosmetic we like to start small with all fillers and build. Aesthetic treatments are not a race and can be performed in multiple sessions. Your practitioner will guide you through the amount needed to achieve your goals.
