Skin Treatment
The Cosmelan peel is a professional depigmentation method which has an intensive corrective effect on skin hyperpigmentation whilst also rcontrolling the overproduction of melanin in the melanocytes, inhibiting, and controlling the appearance of new dark spots. The Cosmelan peel works to reduce freckles, age spots and pigmentation in two stages. The first stage deactivates a critical enzyme in the production of melanin. The secomd, removes existing excess pigment deposits with the use of professional at home skincare.
Its efficacy is based on its double mechanism of action that on the one part has a corrective effect, eliminating the hyperpigmentation and a regulation effect which controls the overproduction of melanin and prevents the appearance of new spots long term.
Anyone concerned with pigmentation, melasma, sun damage and hyperpigmentation caused from Acne can benefit from Cosmelan. It is safe to be performed at any time of year, on new or stubborn pigment deposits, all ages and skin colours.
All Cosmelan treatments include a complimentary LED and professional take home skincare.
On the day of the treatment you’ll be scheduled for a morning time appointment as you’ll need to wear the peel for 8-12 hours that day. When in clinic, our team will take you through to one of our beautiful treatment rooms, cleanse your skin and begin to apply the peel. You’ll go home with the peel on, then wash it off at a scheduled time later that day. The aftercare instructions gives a guide for your skincare routine following that week.
48 hours later, the follow up phase in your home starts with the application of the Cosmelan 2, hydra vital factor K cream and the moisturising sun protection. This phase is carried out for 7 months to achieve an optimal result and prevent the reappearance of spots.
We regularly get asked about our procedures, so we have put together a couple of questions we get asked on a regular basis. If there is something else you would like to know, please get in touch!
After the cosmelan peel, you can expect to notice some skin peeling on the treated areas. In the following two weeks, you will also notice the lightening of melanin concentration on your face. However, the result might vary from patient to patient, depending on the severity of the condition. Â
The recovery time for your cosmelan treatment depends on a few factors. You will experience some peeling in weeks 1-2. It takes about 1-2 weeks after the treatment for the dark spots to start fading away. In three to four weeks, your skin will appear cleaner, brighter, and healthier.Â
If you continue to use the Cosmelan 2 cream, you will maintain the results. In some cases where the pigmentation is deep the treatment may need to be repeated – after the first treatment the pigmentation will be much lighter.
