Surgery in Sydney, NSW
We have many patients who travel to have surgery with our specialist plastic surgeons here in Sydney. We want to help make the process smooth and streamlined when considering surgery with us.Â
Below you’ll find information on how to structure your travel, consultations and post surgery appointments, where to stay in Sydney and other useful information when considering surgery with our team.
Following the new AHPRA guidelines, patients must have an in person consultation with their plastic surgeon before booking a surgery date. We no longer allow patients to have video consultations for their first appointment. This means you will need to fly to Sydney for your consultation. The consultation takes around 60 minutes in total. Your surgeon will discuss the procedure, create a surgery plan, advise of risks, possible complications and go through expected outcomes.
If you’re having a consultation for breast augmentation surgery, during your consultation our breast nurse will take you through the 3D Vectra imaging system, which allows you to see what your results may look like post surgery.Â
The first step in your surgery journey is a consultation with one of our plastic surgeons. This can be booked via contacting our team directly via phone or email. Unfortunately we can no longer offer videos consultations as your first appointment due to new health regulations. Our team are more than happy to answer any questions you may have about surgery, booking process and fees before booking a consultation.
This appointment can be completed 1-2 days prior to surgery at our clinic. This appointment gives you the opportunity to meet with your surgeon again in person, discuss the surgery plan, answer any final questions you may have, confirm sizing and receive your post surgery gift.
Your surgery date will be pre booked at one of our private hospitals located in Sydney. We operate with highly trained plastic surgery teams at our private hospitals who manage many of our patients on their surgery dates.Â
Your surgeon will need to see you in clinic 3-5 days post surgery before you travel home. After your appointment you are free to travel home that day.
Our Nurse will complete a video call with you at two weeks post surgery. This is to see how your recovery is going and check your wounds. We will request images to be emailed through for review.
Your surgeon will video chat with you at 12 weeks post surgery. We will again request images of your results for your surgeon to review.
If you are unsure where to stay in Sydney, we recommend The Intercontinental Double Bay as it is very close to our clinic location, where you will need to come twice during your stay. We also perform most surgeries from Double Bay Day Hospital, which is walking distance to The Intercontinental. If The Intercontinental does not suit your needs, we do recommend staying close to the Eastern suburbs of Sydney for your connivence.
We regularly get asked about our procedures, so we have put together a couple of questions we get asked on a regular basis. If there is something else you would like to know, please get in touch!
Individual cases may vary but generally, no. The only thing we urge patients to consider is that you will not have the luxury of coming into the clinic if there is a post surgery problem, although we can chat to you via phone or video chat.
You may fly home 3-5 days post surgery. This is why we have a post surgery appointment in this time frame.
For your own safety we insist that you have someone travelling with you (husband, partner, family member or good friend). This person will need to pick you up from the hospital post surgery and stay with you for the days following surgery acting as your carer.Â
If you cannot arrange someone to stay with you post surgery, our team can organise a night nurse to stay with you during your Sydney stay. If you would like to arrange this, please contact our team.
